Exhibit

Africa

The savannah, the forest edge, and the species that hold them together.

Introduction

Introduction

Africa is the Louisville Zoo's largest geographic exhibit and the campus's most ambitious immersion. A multi-species savannah brings together antelope, zebra, and ostrich in shared sightlines, while a forest-edge habitat showcases gorillas in a setting modeled on the canopy structure of equatorial Africa.

Conservation Context

Why it matters.

Our work in this region is led by partnerships with field programs in Kenya and the Republic of the Congo. Member dollars and admissions fund anti-poaching patrols, community livelihood programs, and post-release monitoring of orphaned gorillas returned to the wild.
